QCSA  SM1 – Rd.10 Wrap Up – Sat. 11th July 2015

Whitehill battled it out with North Pine Baptist but went down 4-2 in a free-scoring encounter.

After losing to Logan Metro at home earlier in the year, Brisbane Athletic were better prepared this time and had a convincing 7-1 away from home.

Sunnybank Saints bounced back to winning ways with a strong 3-1 win at the Spanish Club against the Latin Golden Boys.

Mansfield Eagles also hit their straps with a solid 4-2 away to Blackstone United, and in doing so, may have ended the hosts dreams of playing in this year’s finals.

The final game of Round 10 saw the equal top teams battle it out at Yandina Park. Unfortunately, for the young visiting team their chances were dampened as they were missing a few of the more experienced team leaders. The strong team ethic and persistent pressure applied by St Pauls found the visitors, Westminster Warriors wanting, and for the first time this year they fell apart with individual play and ill-discipline coming to the fore. As a result they were comprehensively beaten, even though the 2-0 score-line was quite flattering. Excellent headers to Ringo Chang and Dale O’Connell, one in each half, was enough for St Pauls to take outright leadership again.

With suspensions and injuries plaguing the young men from out west, the game against Brisbane Athletic next week will effectively be a 6 point game and the team who wins will continue their charge for the championship. For the loser, they may need to start concentrating on finals football.

QCSA  SW1 – Rd.10 Wrap Up – Sat. 11th July 2015

Salisbury Baptist had an excellent away win at in-form Logan Uniting and won in a tight contest 1-0. In doing so, Salisbury Baptist reverse positions with their hosts, as both teams seem to be looking forward to finish the season strongly after indifferent starts to the season.

Second placed Westminster Warriors had a solid 3-0 win away to Brisbane Valley, as did 5th placed Rosewood United at home to Logan Metro.

In a thrilling encounter, visiting West End have moved into third place after downing Raceview 3-2. For the home team, the chances of missing out on the finals is highly likely, a fact not realised for umpteen years!

Blackstone United continued on their merry way and won 4-0 against North Pine Baptist. The home team have fallen back to 4th placing, with Rosewood United a point behind. The race for the finals will be exciting over the final six rounds!

The game to watch next week is the West End versus North Pine Baptist encounter at Davies Park.
